Hart and the National Library of Jamaica (NLJ)

Richard Hart was a tireless collector of political and historical literature and was responsible for establishing the first Marcus Garvey Collection at the West India Reference Library (now National Library of Jamaica).

He was not just a user of the library but one who saw the importance of a national library and the value of its collection, and as such contributed several of his papers and articles to the National Library of Jamaica, 2006. The Richard Hart Collection has added to NLJ’s holdings and provides insight to the man and his times.
