The balcony of Laurel Peart's Kingston apartment
Title
The balcony of Laurel Peart's Kingston apartment
Description
" 'Fauning' over flora: The balcony of Laurel Peart's Kingston apartment hardly has room for people. Her potted plants have taken over, and now they're even invading the living area.
The place is a profusion of staghorn fern, baby's breath, palm, teddy bear fern, speedwell, English ivy, dieffenbachia - and whatever other flora that happen to catch the owner's fancy.
The thing is she loves plants and defends them with vigour. To pluck a leaf among this lush greenery would be like committing the unpardonable sin. But generally, the trend of plants moving indoors is the modern compromise to apartment living, where there is no garden and the small spaces outside cannot readily be turned to personal use.
Miss Pearl's friends say she had 'green fingers' for whatever she touches just grows and grows. The real secret, smiles Miss Peart who hails originally from Manchester is: "I treat my plants to a little music and lots of tender, loving care.
Perhaps a splash of morning sunlight, an occasional dash of fertilizer and air conditioned coolness also help. Perhaps!
Townhouse dweller Miss Laurel Peart achieves these fantastic results on her balcony which is well placed to receive the morning sun. She also supplies 'TLC'."
