Title

Three-vehicle crash

Description

"Three motor vehicles were involved in an accident along the Half Way Tree Road, just outside the Daily News on Tuesday night. Two were an Austin van (left), reported Tuesday by owner Gwendolyn Wright of Meadowbrook Main, Kingston 8 as having been stolen and a National Transport Bus (right) driven by Trevor Leslie of Coleyville Crescent, Washington Gardens. The third vehicle (out of picture) was a Cortina car, owned and driven by Trevor Kiddoe of Garden Boulevard, Kingston 6.
Police reports said that at about 8:30 pm. the Cortina was travelling South along Half Way Tree Road behind two buses when it slowed its speed after the buses had slowed down. The van which was behind hit the back of the Cortina and then crashed into the bus before ending up in the position shown in picture. The driver of the van immediately fled the scene. No one was injured. Constable Rupert Fraser of the Half Way Tree Police is investigating."Two people were admitted and 70 were treated at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay shortly before noon yesterday following an accident on the Ironshore Road between a double-decker bus belonging to the Montego Bay Omnibus Company and a Falcon motor car owned by Martin's Tours.
The bus overturned and blocked traffic for nearly two hours and at least one Minister of Government P.J. Patterson, on his way to the first sitting of Cabinet in Montego Bay was held up in the road block. Mr. Patterson eventually arrived at the meeting in a police car.
The driver of the motorcar escaped unhurt."
