"Jamaica Railway Corporation workers walked off their jobs last Wednesday, protesting the "delay in resumption of their wage negotiations." Next day they defied back-to-work orders by the Industrial Disputes Tribunal on grounds that their dispute could not yet involve the Tribunal.
The strike has affected commuters and the haulage of farm products, milk from Bybrook Condensery and bauxite and alumina. Locomotives were still parked in the deserted JRC yard in Kingston last night."
