"Doing their own thing: doing the "hussle" in Jamaica has its own connotation in the local vernacular as every "sufferer" well knows. And that exercise might take in just about any sort of activity which allows one to pay the piper.
The young ones above, however, are playing a distinctly different tune to the popular interpretation. And simultaneously blowing their own trumpet as well.
For this music group known as the Mona Preparatory School orchestra, band is really rehearsing a number called "The Hussle" in preparation for their school concert tonight, from 8 p.m. at the UWI Assembly Hall. Now that's better than playing second fiddle."
