Children from St. Ann at Puerto Seco Beach
Title
Children from St. Ann at Puerto Seco Beach
Description
Some of the over 300 children from all over the parish of St. Ann who recently attended a special session of "Story Hour" held at Puerto Seco Beach, co-sponsored by the St. Ann Parish Library and Kaiser Bauxite Company. "Story Hour" is a regular Saturday morning feature at the beach, providing the children with a pleasant morning of games, film shows, reading and the occasional concert, the latter provided by the children themselves). Prizes are sometimes awarded to children for the amount of books read over a period. Story-teller volunteers come from the library staff, Kaiser Bauxite employees and the community. The project arose from a joint desire on the part of the library service and Kaiser to increase readership and provide another recreational outlet for the community of Discover Bay."
