Fatal accident on Church Street

"Fatal accident: a large crowd looks on as attendants remove the body of 20 year old Viris James of 20 Kew Road, Kingston 10 from Church Street yesterday afternoon. Miss James was killed when she was knocked by a truck which got out of control and ended up on the sidewalk. A second person Joseph McKenzie of 55 1/2 Hanover Street was admitted to hospital with injuries. The driver of the truck, Baltimore Swaby, 22 of 56 Love Lane was later arrested by the City Centre Police and charged with manslaughter, dangerous and careless driving. The accident occurred at about 12:30 pm."
