South St. Elizabeth Medical Complex
Title
South St. Elizabeth Medical Complex
Description
"The South St. Elizabeth Medical Complex in Jamaica at 75% completion. The self-help Medical Complex on which construction started less than two years before, was moving towards completion. Over $350,000 was already spent on it and estimated to cost another $150,000.00. A major raffle with 1st prize being a 1980 Capri GL 2000 motor car was underway to raise the additional funds. To the extreme right is the 20-bed maternity block. The two-storey bedroom flat in front is the matron's quarters. The building in the foreground is the main administrative block which includes laboratory facilities, x-ray and dental wing. Partly hidden between the maternity block and the matron's flat is a 20,000 gallon water tank which supplied water for construction and which would augment public water supplies to the sites when the complex is in operation."
