"At the Frankfurt motor show Volkswagen announced details of an agreement have agreed to collaborate on the new Volkswagen Sanatana (photo). From October 1983 the four-door Santana will be assembled at Nissan's Zama works using engines, gearboxes and chassis parts from the Federal Republic of Germany. It will be marketed by Nissan. Volkswagen are also expanding production in the United States, where the VW Jetta will soon be running off the assembly line in Pennsylvania."
