"This lights up my Christmas" were the words spoken by a middle aged woman observing the lighting of the municipal Christmas tree, Down Town Kingston Monday night. The ceremony which featured entertainment by the Grace Thrillers, Brownies, Girl Guides and the Jamaica Defence Force Regiment band and speeches from Kingston's Mayor Coleen Yapp and Local Government Minister Alva Ross drew a very large audience. The lights were switched on by Mrs. Alva Ross."
