Description

American artist Anghelen Arrington Phillips sitting on the lawn in complete harmony with the grass and sketch pad and pen, has been in the island over the last few months capturing classic architectural masterpieces. She had scoured the country drawing stately homes and humble, little country cottages and shops for a book, "Jamaican Houses: A Vanishing Legacy", which will be launched at Harmony Hall today at a special exhibition of original drawings, sponsored by the Ocho Rios branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia.
The book, which covers buildings which had been on the scene since 1964, has 36 fascinating drawings. Among them are Vale Royal, Rose Hall, Roehampton and Cherry Gardens Great Houses, Devon House, Cardiff Hall, Trafalgar House, Ebony Glade and Bone Cottage. Text is by Geoffery de Sola Pinto, president of the Georgian Society and an authority on old buildings."
