"Michelle Manning, a seven-year old pupil of Ormsby Hall Primary School, in Kingston, has won a gold medal for her work entitled "Walking with Care", which was entered in the 23rd World School Children's Art Exhibition, held last September, in Seoul, in the Republic of Korea. Ten other medals - five silver and five bronze - were also won by Jamaican children, among the 64 awards, presented for work entered by Jamaica. A total of 55 countries and 15, 426 children took part in the annual Exhibition which Jamaica first entered in 1977. Main purpose of the Exhibition is to promote mutual understanding and friendshio among the world's children encouraging them in art education through mutual appreciation of the work of each other. The 24th Children's Art Exhibition will be held in Seoul on October 7, 1982."
