Crashed motorcar along Mountain View Avenue
Description
"A serious matter - it was C-H-E-E-S-E for some of these youngsters to get themselves in the picture when our photographer happened upon this crashed motorcar along Mountain View Avenue on Saturday night. But it was by no means a laughing matter for the occupants of the vehicle or their relatives.
One person, driver Margaret Collins, stenographer attached to the PNP Headquarters was up to Tuesday night in the University Hospital's Intensive Care Unit in a serious condition. Both legs and both hands were fractured.
Owner of the BMW car, farmer Winston Deer of First Avenue, Vineyard Town told the Daily News that according to Miss Collins, she was driving south along Mountain View Avenue at about 8pm Saturday when one of two cars overtaking her, hit her car on the right front bumper. The report said Miss Collins' vehicle then got out of control and crashed in a utility pole.
Also in the University Hospital on Tuesday was Mr. Deer's 7-year-old niece Esmine Brown, who received a fractured left leg. Mr. Deer's 15-month son Kwene Brown was taken to the Children's Hospital and sent home Sunday morning after he was observed and nothing found wrong.
The owner's two other nieces Lillian Levy, 15 and Oretha Green, 29, were also in the car but of the two only Miss Green was slightly injured. Police Constable Morgan of the Stadium station is investigating."
