"The post has the secret: the damaged cab pictured here, just across the road from the Daily News, was not originally going in the north-to-south direction along Half Way Tree Road, as the picture indicated. Indeed, minutes before the accident on Sunday night the cab was going up Half Way Tree Road from south to north when a collision with the post at left dictated a sudden and dramatic about-turn. There were various human versions of the happening, but quite understandably the post remained silent - unmoved."
