"First Miss JOS [Jamaica Omnibus Services]: Mrs. Myrtle Burton, seated centre, winner of the first Miss JOS contest, wears a broad smile after a broad smile after she was crowned by Public Utilities and Transport Minister Carlyle Dunkley, at JOS' 21st Safe Driving Awards function. From a field of six finalists, Mrs. Burton, a conductress, emerged in triumph with a total of 91.92 points from a maximum of 100. For her prize Mrs. Burton received a "weekend for two," compliments of Vacation Sales Limited plus $150.
Second place went to Miss Joan Howard, left, also a conductress, who received 89.5 points. Her prize: dinner for two, compliments of Cathay Restaurant, plus $100. Third place went to Mrs. Grace South, clerk right, who received 86.83 points and $50. Judging was based on job performance, knowledge of the company, personality, and appearance, among other things."
