Canvas Can Competition

"Winners of Wherry Wharf Ltd.'s 'Canvas Can' Competition, met recently at Wherry Wharf Ltd., Newsport East for a prize presentation ceremony. The grand prize of $400.00 was awarded to Edgar Flowers of a Kingston address, who designed a canvas support for weighing infants. Each of the running-up first 24 entrants were presented with the item that they had suggested, made from canvas, by Wherry Wharf's Industrial Fabrics Division. The items were handed handed out by a group of Wherry Wharf Ltd.'s representatives: Mrs. Madge Jones, Mrs. Othley Samuels, Miss Madge Robertson, Ron Fletcher and Miss Rita Mills, Interior Decorator at Decorator's Centre. Winston Lawson, Marketing Manager at Wherry Wharf Ltd., acted as Master of Ceremonies.

The Kohler Sanitary Ware showroom at Wherry Wharf Ltd., the venue of the presentation, soon took on a festive air, as contestants opened their entries and proudly displayed their creations, which included foul-weather capes, knapsacks, shoe racks, and an assortment of useful and original items."
