"There are millions of reasons for supporting the International Year of the Child. Most of them are under 10 years old. Next year, 1979 is Child's Year and it is hoped the level of consciousness of children's problems all over the world will be raised. UNICEF has agreed to commit $3 million to assist the developing countries improve services for children. The International Union for Child Welfare will next year carry out a world-wide study of the implementation of the principles contained in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Through the study the IUCW hopes to get recognition for and application of these rights throughout the world. Below is the Declaration . It stands as the first international Declaration of the Right of the Child and was ratified in Geneva February 1924."
