Description
"This bracelet would be locked onto an enslaved African's wrist to show that they were considered the property of the plantation owner. They were identified with a plantation or an owner either through the branding of their skin with a hot iron or through wearing a bracelet bearing the name of the enslaved person's owner for eg. S. Bosanquet, as well as the name of the plantation for eg. Layton and the year the persons were purchased for eg. 1746."
