"Members of the Back to Africa Mission at Palisadoes Airport yesterday morning before flying to New York by BOAC on the first stage of a two-month tour of five African countries to investigate migration there. In from from left are Mr. W.M. Blackwood of the UNIA; the Hon. E.H. Lake, Minister of Social Services in Antigua who is travelling with the mission at his government's expense; Dr. L.C. Leslie former Mayor of Spanish Town and leader of the mission, Mr. Z. Munroe Scarlett of the Afro and West Indian Welfare league, and Dr. M.B. Douglas of the Afro Caribbean League, Mr. Philmore Alvaranga of the Rases of Eastern and Central Kingston is directly behind Mr. Scarlett. At top of the steps are Mr. Mortimer Planner of the Ras Tafarian Movement, Mr. Cecil Gordon of the Ethiopian World Federation and Mr. Douglas Mack of the Rases of Eastern and Central Kingston. Mr. Victor Reid, Jamaican journalist and author who with Dr. Leslie are Government advisers on the mission, is not in the picture."
