"A scoreboard? Go into the cricket ground and the first place you look is at the scoreboard. To many spectators this is the important thing on a cricket field, outside of the players and the umpires of course. But for a few seasons now Sabina Park, the headquarters of cricket in Jamaica, is for all purposes, without one. The photograph shows the impromptu erection at the south-eastern section of the ground which really tells nothing at all, except the team's total. Who is batting or who is bowling is a mystery to the spectators and the question being asked is, will this still be representing a scoreboard when the Pakistanis arrive here next weekend for their matches against Jamaica and the West Indies? Once upon a time, there was a reasonable one at the eastern section of the ground. This was taken down when plans for renovating Sabina Park was first announced with the intention of building a new, modern one. It has been a long time now and there is a problem with the delay of the scheme, the paying public insists that they deserve better than this, something from which they can know what is happening."
