Description

"A section of the 6,000-strong march through sections of St. Georges, Grenada last Monday to commemorate "Bloody Monday" [Jan. 21, 1974], when the 'Mongoose Gang' of dictator Gairy, fired into crowds of peaceful demonstrators, killing Mr Rupert Bishop, father of Prime Minister Maurice Bishop.

In front are [l-r] members of the PRG, Ken Radix, Min. of Legal Affairs and Attorney-General, Vincent Noel, Min. of National Security and Home Affairs, George Louison, Min. of Education and Bernard Coard, Min. of Finance and Planning and Deputy Prime Minister.

The commemoration took the form of a march to Rupert Bishop's grave where a short ceremony was held, then a march back along the same route to Ottway House on the Carenage in St. Georges, the scene of the first "Bloody Monday", for a mass meeting addressed by members of the PRG.
