"This destitute farmer in Bangladesh, like so many rural people, has known poverty and hunger throughout his life. A Small Farmers' Development Project, initiated by FAO in 1976, has so far organized some 11,000 families in Bangladesh, Nepal and the Philippines into working groups, with the object of increasing their incomes and productivity."
