"The blessing of the new St. Joseph Church in Tom's River, by Archbishop S.E. Carter S.J. takes place on November 28, 1982 at 11:00 am. The old church was built in 1895 by Father Beau Clerk S.J. In 1980 Father Josephs Jones C.P. made an appeal to the German Bishops and to local benefactors who gave a sum of money for it's rebuilding. The old church nearly reaching, it's century mark and could no longer stand, was demolished in 1980 and the new one completed early this year."
