"Easter Sunday disgrace: The faithful at the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church on Halfway Tree Road turned up yesterday for Easter Sunday services in the high spirits of the traditional Christian celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. But there was this rubbish pile near the church gate, which to many good and patient Christians constituted a temptation to swear. What is more the water hydrant (perhaps because of indifferent closure) was dripping precious water to waste, a situation the small tin can at the base of the hydrant could not contain and some worshipers barely contained themselves at the sight of what they regarded as wilful waste."
