Ten J.D.F. soldiers had just dismantled their road block to move on to another spot to continue random security blocks on highway users.\r\nThe army truck had hardly travelled 300 yards towards Kingston to begin the ascent of the humped bridge, when the J.O.S. bus - its driver the only occupant - came over the brow of the bridge and hurtled down at the truck.\r\nThe two vehicles smashed head-on. All ten uniformed soldiers were injured, Private Stewart fatally.\r\nThe driver of the army truck, Private Dyer, miraculously escaped death. So did bus driver Eric Hinds. But both have been admitted to hospital.\r\nBoth vehicles were extensively damaged and were moved near dawn yesterday.\r\nPicture shows the wrecked bus being moved away.\""},{"label":"Subject","value":"Traffic accidents - Jamaica; Automobiles; Bus accidents - Jamaica; Motor vehicles; Buses"},{"label":"Creator","value":"Michael Jarrett (Daily News)"},{"label":"Date","value":"1-Jan-1978"},{"label":"Source","value":"NLJ Photograph Collection IN: Daily News Collection - Accidents, Ja. - Road"},{"label":"Identifier","value":"D0008087"},{"label":"Rights","value":"Permission to reproduce this image must be obtained from the National Library of Jamaica."},{"label":"Format","value":"JPEG"},{"label":"Type","value":"Photograph"}],"sequences":[{"@id":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/iiif/7243/sequence/normal","@type":"sc:Sequence","label":"Current Page Order","viewingDirection":"left-to-right","viewingHint":"non-paged","canvases":[{"@id":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/iiif/7243/canvas/p1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"[1]","thumbnail":{"@id":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/iiif-img/13968/full/404%2C255/0/default.jpg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/iiif-img/13968","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"width":404,"height":255,"images":[{"@id":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/iiif/7243/annotation/p0001-image","@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/files/original/46b0689232181a2aaa2a48d3bbe68eeb.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","width":404,"height":255,"service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/iiif-img/13968","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"on":"https://nljdigital.nlj.gov.jm/iiif/7243/canvas/p1"}]}]}]}
